To do do the Window Registry Backup manually go to start and select run. Then type regedit and hit enter.

A new box should have now popped up. It should be titled "Registry Editor" and should look almost identical to the image below.

Now select file from the menu and export as shown below and then name your window registry backup file whatever you want to name it.

If you happen to be running Windows Vista a Registry Backup is a little more complicated as the run command is hidden by default. Please read this article on Enabling run command in Windows Vista if this is the case.

Note: Save the Window Registry Backup to a CD for safe keeping.
